Stop fighting on
Week after week after interminable week in his column “On College Football,” Chris Dufresne does not write about college football. Instead, he cries, moans and weeps with his good buddy Pete Carroll about the unfairness of the BCS to Southern Cal. Your sports department needs to change the name of his column to more appropriately reflect his writing, something along the lines of “On How the BCS Is Unfair to the Greatest Football Team of All Time, Southern Cal, Who Should Always Be Ranked #1 or #2 at Any Time in Any Season Even When They Lose to an Unranked 24-Point Underdog.”

“If the university of Blah beats Blah Blah St. and Blah Tech Loses to Western Blah State Then possibly Blah Blah USC will BLAH BLAH BLAH BCS, BLAH BLAH!!!”
Chris you make it sound soooo simple.

Telegram to Pete Carroll:
Me. Longtime SC football fan. Stop. You. Not top five team this year. Stop whining. Stop stockpiling top talent by sharing playing time. Compete for national titles. One or the other. Not both. Stop.

So, is Mark Sanchez’s focusing on not throwing picks some kind of close cousin to playing not to lose? And how does that approach usually turn out?
