Jonathan Stewart rushed for a career-high 130 yards and a touchdown, DeAngelo Williams added 120 yards and two scores, and the Carolina Panthers held off the winless Detroit Lions, 31-22.

The Panthers (8-2) set a team record with 264 yards rushing. It was the first time two of their backs rushed for more than 100 yards in the same game.

The NFC South leaders surpassed last year’s win total despite a sluggish performance that kept Detroit close.

Daunte Culpepper got the Lions (0-10) within 24-22 on his one-yard plunge with 6:05 remaining.

The quarterback’s two-point conversion run was stopped short of the goal line as Jon Beason grabbed his facemask. No penalty was called.
