USC’s Cunningham expected to sit out season after surgery
USC forward Kasey Cunningham is expected to miss the rest of the season after undergoing reconstructive surgery on his left knee, the school announced Wednesday.
Cunningham, a 6-foot-7 redshirt sophomore, sat out nearly all of the last two seasons because of left knee injuries.
Cunningham was injured Sunday after scoring a basket with 10 minutes left in the Trojans’ 83-72 loss to Missouri in the Puerto Rico Tip-Off.
He said Tuesday that he would have an arthroscopic procedure and expected to sit out about five weeks. But doctors found ligament damage Wednesday that required reconstruction.
Coach Tim Floyd could not be reached for comment.
USC, with a 3-2 record, plays host to Tennessee Martin on Friday.
