* at Baltimore 14, Cleveland 3: Aubrey Huff hit a grand slam to cap a seven-run sixth inning and the Orioles’ losing streak ended at eight games. Asdrubal Cabrera was three for three and drove in two runs for the Indians, and Shin-Soo Choo had two hits to extend his hitting streak to 12 games. He has reached safely in 28 consecutive games.

* at Detroit 14, Oakland 8: Gary Sheffield hit two home runs, including his 13th career grand slam, and drove in five runs for the Tigers, who also got home runs from Magglio Ordonez, Miguel Cabrera and Mike Hessman. Both starting pitchers struggled. Zach Miner of the Tigers gave up eight runs and 11 hits in 4 1/3 innings and rookie Gio Gonzalez (1-4) gave up a career-high nine runs and five hits in 1 2/3 innings.

* Toronto at Chicago, ppd. rain: The game will be made up today as part of a day-night doubleheader.

* at Boston 3, Tampa Bay 0: The Red Sox moved to within half a game of the first-place Rays in the American League East.

* at Angels 12, New York 1: Vladimir Guerrero, Brandon Wood and Sean Rodriguez each hit a home run to lead the Angels, who can clinch the American League West today if they win and the Texas Rangers lose to the Mariners in Seattle.
