Update -- With seven games left in the regular season, the playoff scenario is coming into focus for the Galaxy, which is 0-5-6 in its last 11 games. Los Angeles probably will have to win at least four games to avoid missing the playoffs for the third consecutive year. If the New York Red Bulls and D.C. United each win at least three of their remaining games, the Galaxy’s wild-card chances are all but over. That means it has to finish in the top three in the Western Conference, an achievable feat given the weakness of the teams in the West with the exception of defending MLS champion Houston. After today’s game between two last-place teams, the Galaxy is at home against D.C. United, Colorado and Dallas and on the road against Chicago, Columbus and Houston. The Galaxy acquired goalkeeper Josh Saunders on loan from the Miami FC Blues of the USL. Saunders was on the Galaxy roster in 2005.
