Closing the deal
What are the odds that new L.A. Times sports columnist Bill Plaschke would have the same name as his predecessor? The new guy was on the mark Wednesday when he wrote that closers are not nearly as critical to the success of a baseball team as a starting pitcher or power hitter. This is in sharp contrast to the old guy who wasted 30 inches in 2003 making the absurd argument that Eric Gagne was deserving of the MVP.
The old guy was such a fan of the Dodgers that all of his baseball-related writing was easily dismissed. Kudos to the new guy. Keep up the good work.
