Galaxy falls to Fire, 3-1

BRIDGEVIEW, Ill. -- Chris Rolfe scored two goals and Cuauhtemoc Blanco had a goal and two assists to lead the Chicago Fire to a 3-1 victory over the Galaxy on Thursday night.

In the 13th minute, the Fire’s John Thorrington passed the ball to Rolfe, who broke through defenders, spun around and blasted a shot into the lower left corner of the net for a 1-0 lead.

The Galaxy tied it in the 35th minute. Landon Donovan passed to Chris Klein on the right side and Klein centered it to Eddie Lewis in the penalty area. Lewis then volleyed a short ball past Fire goalkeeper Jon Busch.

In the 57th minute, Blanco stepped over a defender and ran past sliding Galaxy goalkeeper Josh Wicks to score for a 2-1 lead.

Two minutes later, Blanco found Gonzalo Segares on the left side. Segares crossed it to Rolfe, who blasted it toward the goal. Wicks got a hand on it, but the ball bounced into the net for a 3-1 lead.
