at Seattle 6, Detroit 3: Felix Hernandez survived early struggles and the Mariners used a five-run fifth inning for their seventh victory in eight games.

at Tampa Bay 6, Chicago 5: Ben Zobrist hit a pinch-hit grand slam and Carlos Pena homered for the fifth time in six days for the Rays.

Oakland 8, at Toronto 5: Matt Holliday hit a go-ahead double in the seventh inning and Bobby Crosby drove in three runs for the Athletics.

Kansas City 12, at Texas 3: Gil Meche pitched into the seventh without giving up a run and Mark Teahen was five for six for the Royals.

at Minnesota 11, Angels 9: The Angels’ bullpen gave up nine runs after the fifth inning.
