The West Hollywood City Council agreed Monday to allow an exclusive British club to open on the Sunset Strip despite objections from neighbors.

SoHo House is planning to lease the top two floors of Luckman Plaza at 9200 Sun- set Blvd. The members-only club, which also has an outpost in Manhattan, caters to an A-list entertainment industry crowd.

Some residents are worried about the noise, traffic and paparazzi it could bring to their quiet residential streets. Their concerns are shared by Beverly Hills Mayor Nancy Krasne, who attended Monday’s meeting.

But city officials say the building’s owners, the Mani Brothers Real Estate Group, and their tenants have worked hard to alleviate neighbors’ concerns.

Francisco Contreras, a city planner, said the project would employ about 100 workers during renovations and provide permanent jobs to about 300 club employees. He also estimated that the club’s workers and visitors would spend about $7 million annually in West Hollywood.
