Favre hasn’t conquered all the Vikings

Brett Favre is set to play the first half of tonight’s Minnesota-Houston exhibition game, and reportedly some Vikings players are less than thrilled about it.

According to, Favre’s presence has upset the chemistry inside the Vikings’ locker room. Some say Tarvaris Jackson gives the Vikings the best chance to win. Others back Sage Rosenfels.

One source said Favre has “little support” in the locker room. Last season, several New York Jets voiced similar opinions about Favre’s being too aloof.

It’s early, but it sounds as if Favre might have unretired one time too many.

Looking for proof

Meanwhile, another NFL player is seeking acceptance on his new team.

“I’m not even sure if I really got accepted yet. I mean, everyone has been cordial and nice to me,” said Chicago Bears linebacker Pisa Tinoisamoa. “But week in and week out, you just have to show not only to your teammates but to yourself that you’re good enough to hang around.”

Talk and run

Montana Tech football Coach Bob Green does not envy Louisville basketball Coach Rick Pitino’s having to tell his wife that he had an extramarital affair.

“I’d have a hard time telling that to Pam Green,” Green told Butte’s KBOW Radio. “Then I would keep an eye on all body parts.”

Trivia answer

Todd Helton of the Colorado Rockies, who had 103 extra-base hits in 2000 and 105 in 2001.
