LeBron James, and a long shot, rally Cavaliers to victory
LeBron James scored a season-high 44 points and Mo Williams hit a backbreaking half-court shot in the fourth quarter to help the Cleveland Cavaliers close out a 102-89 victory over the Oklahoma City Thunder on Sunday night.
Williams tracked down the ball after Thabo Sefolosha had tipped it into the backcourt. With Coach Mike Brown yelling at him and the shot clock running down, he turned and fired a 48-footer. The shot earned him a look of disbelief and a congratulatory hand slap from James, and it put Cleveland ahead, 94-87, its largest lead to that point.
The stunned Thunder didn’t score again for 3 1/2 minutes as the Cavaliers put the game away. Cleveland trailed at halftime, 54-49, but outscored Oklahoma City by 18 in the second half.
Williams finished with 22 points, half coming in the fourth quarter.
Kevin Durant led Oklahoma City with 29 points and Jeff Green scored a season-high 26.
