A two-day freshman orientation scheduled to begin Monday at Cal State San Bernardino was canceled after the campus confirmed its first case of the H1N1 virus.

A campus employee contracted the virus, making it the fifth campus in the California State University system to report a case of the swine flu since April, said Sid Robinson, assistant vice president for public affairs.

An e-mail notification about the virus was sent Sunday to faculty and staff. The campus is taking steps recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, such as proper hand-washing techniques and sneezing etiquette. The campus orientation has not yet been rescheduled.
