Westchester Golf Course is being made whole.
After decades of controversy, the Los Angeles Board of Airport Commissioners has agreed to restore three holes at the course on vacant airport-owned land, returning it to the standard 18-hole configuration. The three holes had been lopped off in 1993 to build Westchester Parkway.
“This project is great, great, great for Westchester,” said Councilman Bill Rosendahl, who had lobbied for the change.
According to the 10-year lease, which Westchester Golf Partners may extend by 20 years, the project must be completed within 180 days of receiving final environmental clearance and state and federal approvals.
Los Angeles World Airports, which owns and operates nearby LAX, has completed the environmental study and submitted it to the Federal Aviation Administration for a final determination.
