Second-half rally leads Oregon past Oregon State

. -- Tajuan Porter scored 24 points and Oregon overcame a 13-point deficit in the second half to beat Oregon State, 79-69, on Sunday.

Matt Humphrey added a career-high 17 points for the Ducks, 8-20 overall and 2-14 in the Pacific 10 Conference. Oregon trailed, 45-32, when Joevan Catron scored inside at the 16:17 mark of the second half to spark a 24-3 run.

Porter and Humphrey each scored eight points during that stretch.

Porter, who was five for 10 from the field with three three-pointers, tied the score, 48-48, on a long jump shot and then put the Ducks ahead, 51-48, by making three free throws after getting fouled on a three-point shot.

When Oregon’s run ended at the 10:23 mark, it was up, 56-48.

The Beavers (13-14, 7-9) never got closer than four points.

Calvin Haynes led Oregon State with 16 points. Seth Tarver added 14 points and Roeland Schaftenaar had 13.

Oregon trailed 38-28 at the half but was nearly flawless over the final 20 minutes, shooting 52% and committing only one turnover during the half.
