Sheriff’s detectives Monday were investigating the fatal shooting of a taxi driver in South Gate. The unidentified driver was found Sunday about 11:45 p.m. on a sidewalk near Alameda Street and Tweedy Boulevard with gunshot wounds, said Deputy Keith Ho of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Deputies found a male juvenile in the back seat of the taxicab and detained him for questioning, Ho said. They also recovered two handguns from the car. It was unclear if the cab was involved in a traffic collision that brought deputies to the scene.
