Jazz programmer: Herbie Hancock has been appointed the L.A. Philharmonic Assn.’s new creative chair for jazz, succeeding bassist Christian McBride. His two-year tenure programming concerts at Disney Hall and the Hollywood Bowl begins with the Bowl’s 2010 season.

More Beck: Commentator Glenn Beck, whose 2 p.m. show on Fox News has scored strong ratings since it debuted in January, is getting more airtime. As of Monday, a repeat of “Glenn Beck” now airs on the network at 11 p.m.

CNBC petition: Some liberal political activists and economists have seized on comedian Jon Stewart’s attacks of CNBC to push an online petition drive urging the network to be tougher on Wall Street leaders.
