A man has been arrested and charged with the murder of Anthony Vargas, who was killed this weekend in Highland, but authorities said Monday they are still searching for other suspects.

“We think there’s other people involved,” said Arden Wiltshire of the San Bernardino County Sheriff-Coroner’s Department.

Matthew Duronio, 18, of San Bernardino was arrested Sunday after investigators with the Sheriff’s Department interviewed him and a minor. Duronio is being held without bail. The minor was not charged and was released to her parents.

Duronio’s car, a silver Acura Integra, matched the description of a vehicle seen fleeing the scene partly because a side-view mirror was missing and its windows had been broken out, according to the Sheriff’s Department.

Vargas, 20, was found with multiple stab wounds in the frontyard of a residence in the 7800 block of Calle del Rio Street early Saturday, authorities said. He was taken to Loma Linda Medical Center, where he died.

Wiltshire said Vargas had apparently been in a fight.
