Federal agents in San Diego recovered about $40,000 that was tossed out of the truck of two suspected marijuana dealers who led police on a freeway chase. Officials believe roughly $185,000 is still missing.

They are asking motorists who stopped to pick up the cash to turn it in.

Drug Enforcement Administration spokeswoman Eileen Zeidler said Tuesday that the money is evidence of a crime.

Court records say the chase started Thursday after two members of a drug-smuggling ring met in a parking lot to buy 500 pounds of pot worth $225,000 from an undercover DEA agent posing as a seller.
