CALIFORNIA BRIEFING / CORONA
Authorities released the names Sunday of two young girls allegedly stabbed to death by their father.
Natalie Esqueda, 2 months old, and her 6-year-old sister, Casandra, were pronounced dead Saturday, shortly after they were taken to Corona Regional Medical Center.
Their mother, 33-year-old Irene Gonzalez, was also stabbed in the attack. She was listed in serious condition.
The father, Amado Esqueda, also suffered stab wounds and was in stable condition. He was booked on suspicion of homicide, police said.
Police said they received a 911 call at 6:48 a.m. from a woman who was speaking in Spanish, saying that “she was being stabbed and her children were being stabbed.”
