at Minnesota 14, Detroit 10 (13 innings): Joe Crede’s two-out grand slam in the 13th inning off Brandon Lyon won it for the Twins. Dontrelle Willis made his first start of the season for the Tigers, giving up eight hits, four runs and two walks in 4 2/3 innings.

at Oakland 7, Royals 2: Jack Cust’s three-run double helped Josh Outman win his first game of the season as the Athletics swept the two-game series. Outman (1-0) allowed three hits and a run in six innings.

at Cleveland 4, Chicago 0: Cliff Lee (2-5) struck out nine and Victor Martinez and Ryan Garko homered as the Indians won their second series of the year. Mark Buehrle (5-1) lost for the first time since Sept. 24 last year.

New York 8, at Toronto 2: Brett Gardner hit his first major league homer and drove in three runs, Andy Pettitte won for the first time in four starts and the Yankees improved to 11-0 when holding their for to three runs or less.

Tampa Bay 8, at Baltimore 6: Willie Aybar hit a tiebreaking single and Jason Bartlett hit his fifth homer for the Rays, who scored four times in the ninth.

at Angels 8, Boston 4: Matt Palmer overcame a shaky start and Mike Napoli and Torii Hunter hit homers for the Angels, who overcame a 4-0 deficit.
