No. 13 Houston edges Tulsa on final play

No. 13 Houston 46, at Tulsa 45: Matt Hogan kicked a 51-yard field goal as time expired to lift the Cougars (8-1, 4-1) over the Golden Hurricane (4-5, 2-3) in a Conference USA game. The field goal finished off another thrilling comeback led by quarterback Case Keenum. After getting sacked on a potential tying two-point conversion with 21 seconds left, Keenum got the Cougars into field goal range after an onside kick to add to his impressive Heisman resume. Keenum finished with 522 yards on 40-for-60 passing with three touchdown passes. It was the second straight game with more than 500 yards passing for the nation’s most prolific passer. The Cougars rushed onto the field and hoisted Hogan into the air after he connected on the longest kick of his career. His previous long was 34 yards.

at Southern Methodist 31, Rice 28: Shawnbrey McNeal rushed for 88 yards and two touchdowns to lift the Mustangs (5-4, 4-1) over the Owls (0-9, 0-5) in a C-USA game.

at Tulane 45, Texas El Paso 38 (OT): Andre Anderson scored the tying touchdown with one second left in regulation, then rushed for the winning score in overtime as the Green Wave (3-6, 1-4) beat the Miners (3-6, 2-3) in a C-USA game.

at Alabama Birmingham 56, Florida Atlantic 29: Joe Webb threw four touchdown passes to lead the Blazers (4-5) over the Owls (3-5).

at Akron 28, Kent State 20: Patrick Nicely threw two touchdown passes to Jeremy LaFrance and the Zips (2-7, 1-4) defeated the Golden Flashes (5-5, 4-2) in a Mid-American Conference game.

In Sun Belt Conference games: Shawn Southward ran for 140 yards and four touchdowns to lead Troy (7-2, 6-0) to a 40-20 win over host Western Kentucky (0-9, 0-5). . . . Lance Kelley’s interception with 2:52 left lifted Louisiana Lafayette (5-4, 3-2) to a 21-18 win over host Arkansas State (5-4, 3-2). . . . Greg James had three interceptions to lead Louisiana Monroe (5-4, 4-1) to a 33-6 win over host North Texas (2-7, 1-5). . . . Dwight Dasher ran for three touchdowns and passed for two more to lead host Middle Tennessee State (6-3, 4-1) to a 48-21 win over Florida International (2-7, 2-4).
