My 11-year-old son Jacob just told me what he wants for the holidays this year. He asked me for about 100 blank DVDs. “What in the world are you planning to do with them,” I asked. “I want to record every televised game Vin Scully calls next season and keep them forever,” he said.

I was speechless. As an 11-year-old I cannot tell you how many nights I went to bed clutching my transistor radio and listening to Vinny. I don’t think I ever fell asleep before he called the final out. So now that we know when he will be calling his final out we have something to say. There are two generations in my family completely enthralled with the greatest broadcaster in sports history. We love you Vinny, and we will miss you very much. Thanks for the memories.
