Pepperdine beats Hampton, 75-66

MEN

Pepperdine 75, Hampton 66: Dane Suttle scored a career-high 22 points for the Waves in the World Vision Challenge at Laramie, Wyo. Pepperdine (2-3) overcame an early eight-point deficit and rode hot outside shooting by Suttle, who made all five of his three-point attempts in the first half. Keion Bell scored 18 points for the Waves, who made six free throws in the final 1:23 to seal the win. Darrion Pellum and Michael Freeman each scored 16 points for the Pirates (0-4).

WOMEN

USC 61, No. 13 Texas 54: Briana Gilbreath scored 13 points to lead four players in double figures and help the Trojans upset the Longhorns in the Paradise Jam at St. Thomas, Virgin Islands. Aarika Hughes and Kari LaPlante each had 12 points, and Heather Oliver had 10 for USC (2-3), which earned its first win against a ranked team for new Coach Michael Cooper. The Longhorns (3-2) rallied behind Kathleen Nash, who made consecutive three-pointers to pull Texas to within four points with three minutes left, but Hughes and LaPlante scored the next six points to put the game away.
