A man in custody at the Orange County Jail on suspicion of raping and trying to kill his former girlfriend was charged Friday with soliciting her murder while he was behind bars, authorities said.

Mark Alan Jarosik, 43, was originally jailed and held on $100,000 bail after the 41-year-old woman accused him of sexually assaulting her in May. Prosecutors said Jarosik posted bail June 6 and the next morning attempted to break into the woman’s home, and, the following day, punched her in the face and slammed her head against the curb. He was arrested and booked into the Orange County Jail again.

While in jail, Jarosik is accused of asking another inmate to arrange to have the woman killed and videotape her death. Jarosik allegedly told the inmate that he wanted to watch the videotape at Christmas, prosecutors said.
