No. 16 Oregon routs Washington State

Jeremiah Masoli threw for 116 yards and a touchdown and ran for one touchdown before sitting out the second half in No. 16 Oregon’s 52-6 victory over Washington State on Saturday night at Eugene, Ore.

Ed Dickson had seven catches for 103 yards and a touchdown for the Ducks (4-1 overall, 2-0 in Pacific 10 Conference play).

The Cougars (1-4, 0-3) were held to 139 yards. Oregon had 505 yards.

Freshman quarterback Jeff Tuel made his first start but completed only one of two passes in the first quarter before he was knocked out by a hard sack. He suffered a hip pointer and did not return.

Oregon built a 21-0 lead in the first quarter. LaMichael James got it started with a 26-yard touchdown run less than two minutes into the game.

After Masoli hit Dickson with a 26-yard scoring pass, James scored on a three-yard run to make it 21-0.

Masoli scored on a one-yard run before Andre Crenshaw’s six-yard touchdown dash. Nate Costa, who replaced Masoli in the second quarter, scored on a four-yard run just before halftime to make it 42-0.

Dickson has 104 catches, surpassing Josh Wilcox for most career receptions for an Oregon tight end. Wilcox (1993-96) had 103.

Oregon State 28, Arizona State 17 -- Jacquizz Rodgers ran for two touchdowns, Sean Canfield threw for two and the Beavers earned their first victory at Tempe, Ariz., since Sept. 27, 1969, before the Sun Devils joined the Pac-10.

James Rodgers and Damola Adeniji each caught a touchdown pass for the Beavers (3-2, 1-1), who had lost 16 consecutive games to the Sun Devils (2-2, 0-1) at Tempe.

Oregon State bounced back into contention in the Rose Bowl race after losing its conference opener to Arizona the previous week.

The Beavers jumped to a 21-3 halftime lead.
