For almost two seasons now Rick Neuheisel and Norm Chow have shamefully let Kevin Craft shoulder the blame for their anemic (more like poorly designed) offense. And not once did that kid blame the coaches, his teammates, or the offensive scheme. Talk about a stand-up guy. And after that was proven false Saturday, Chow is back to citing the Bruins’ youth -- the other big excuse.

Hey, Norm and Rick, your design and coaching of the offense stinks. Grow up and deal with it -- or at least fix it.

After reading Mike Penner’s superb list of “99 Things About John Wooden,” I thought about what item would be slotted for No. 100 next year to coincide with the icon’s 100th birthday. How about Coach Wooden dispensing nuggets about his Pyramid of Success to a very inquisitive and grateful Rick Neuheisel, therefore transforming UCLA’s usual lackluster and drab season (and subsequent ones) into successful and major bowl-worthy campaigns?

So Rick, are you listening?

If Richard Brehaut would have gone to USC and Matt Barkley to UCLA, Brehaut would be starting for the Trojans and Barkley would be wasting away on the Bruins’ bench.
