It’s a promising start to what it could be

What could you be doing on your next vacation? The website Kijubi (the phonetic pronunciation of “could you be”) has hundreds of outdoor activities worth leaving your hotel room for, whether you are drawn to extreme adventure or a cushy ride on a yacht.

What’s hot: My favorite part of the website is scrolling through the categories and opening my eyes to fun things I’ve never thought of doing, such as taking a glider ride over the Palomar Mountains, participating in a high-tech adventure hunt in Los Angeles or getting a massive dose of adrenaline by flying in an air combat jet. The activities are sorted by things to do on land, in the air or in the water. You can also search by such themes as family, romance, thrills and competition. Culture may be one of the weaker categories, but luxury more than makes up for it. If the price tags on some of the more extreme activities are suitable for a birthday splurge, know that gift certificates are available too. Don’t worry that the user reviews are sparse right now; they’re being vetted and include customers who actually bought the experience through Kijubi.

What’s not: It’s a bummer that the site serves only California, Florida, Nevada and Maryland for now. There are plans to complete Florida and add activities in New York, Hawaii, Mexico and the Caribbean in 2010. There’s no date for the inclusion of New Zealand, Australia and Europe.
