White Sox make Tigers’ lives more difficult

CHICAGO —
Jake Peavy pitched seven shutout innings in his second start for the White Sox, Gordon Beckham homered to break up Eddie Bonine’s no-hit bid and Chicago slowed Detroit’s pursuit of the AL Central title by beating the Tigers, 2-0, on Friday night.
Detroit is two games ahead of Minnesota, which won at Kansas City. The Tigers and Twins play a four-game series starting Monday in Detroit.
Peavy (2-0) gave up six hits, struck out eight and walked two.
