Minnesota 11, at Kansas City 6: Denard Span had four hits and a career-high six runs batted in and the Twins earned their 11th victory in 12 games. Joe Mauer was two for four with a walk to hike his major league-leading batting average to .371.

at Texas 15, Tampa Bay 3: Marlon Byrd hit two home runs, including his sixth career grand slam in an 11-run fifth inning, and the Rangers moved to within six games of Boston for the AL wild card with eight games to play.

at Toronto 5, Seattle 4 (10 innings): Adam Lind hit two home runs, including a game-ending solo drive in the 10th inning. Seattle’s Ichiro Suzuki was ejected for arguing a called third strike, the first ejection of his career.

at Cleveland 9, Baltimore 8: Jhonny Peralta hit a game-ending single, extending the Orioles’ losing streak to nine games.
