ARLINGTON, TEXAS —
Fernando Perez squeezed home the go-ahead run in the ninth inning, completing Tampa Bay’s comeback from a 5-0 deficit for a 7-6 victory that spoiled Texas’ home finale and pushed the Rangers to the brink of elimination in the AL West.
The Rays scored three runs in the eighth and four in the ninth to drop Texas six games behind the Angels with seven to play. The Rangers play four games at Angel Stadium starting tonight.
Randy Choate (1-0) got the win and Lance Cormier earned the save. Frank Francisco (2-3) gave up the four ninth-inning runs and took the loss.
