Kings switch radio stations for playoffs; TV schedule isn’t set

The Kings’ playoff run will be moved from flagship radio station KTLK 1150 to KLAC 570, while on the television front, the Fox Sports schedule for the first-round games against the Vancouver Canucks was still being worked out Monday night.

With KLAC’s mostly sports lineup and local sports talk programs as well as a stronger signal, the switch should give the Kings more exposure, said Mike Altieri, Kings vice president of broadcasting and communications. Clear Channel radio owns both stations, making the switch possible.

“Our partnership with Clear Channel allows us a great opportunity to reach a wider audience when so many people are focusing on the Kings,” Altieri said.

But on the television side, because of issues with previously scheduled Angels and Dodgers games, Fox and Kings officials do not expect to be able to release the full hockey schedule until Tuesday.

All the first-round games will be on either Fox Sports West or Prime Ticket. First-round games televised by Versus would be blacked out in the Los Angeles area in favor of the Fox broadcast

Should the Kings advance to the second round, Versus has the contractual right to show up to two games exclusively so viewers whose cable or satellite systems don’t carry Versus would miss those games.
