Readers recommend: 1890s Michigan hotel
The highlight of a driving trip through Wisconsin, Michigan and Illinois was four days on Michigan’s Mackinac Island at the Hotel Iroquois. It was built in the 1890s and has been beautifully maintained. We could sit on the porch and watch all the activities on the main street or eat on the terrace overlooking the harbor.
