‘The Country Girl’

Bing Crosby earned his third lead actor Oscar nomination for his gripping performance in the 1954 drama “The Country Girl” as an alcoholic singer who is given a chance for a comeback.

‘Going My Way’

Leo McCarey directed Crosby to his Oscar-winning turn as the young Catholic priest Father O’Malley in the 1944 best picture winner, “Going My Way.” In the film, Crosby also sang the Oscar-winning tune “Swinging on a Star.”

‘Road to Singapore’

Bob Hope and Crosby were two of Paramount’s biggest stars when they were cast as buddies in the 1940 comedy hit “Road to Singapore.” It was so successful they made six more “Road” comedies, the best being 1942’s “Road to Morocco.”
