Drew Viney leads Loyola Marymount

Drew Viney scored a career-high 35 points to lead visiting Loyola Marymount to its third win in a row, a 72-69 decision over San Diego on Thursday night.

Loyola Marymount (16-13, 7-6 West Coast Conference) has won five of six and has its highest win total since the Lions went 18-11 in 1995-96.

Viney, who also had eight rebounds, made 13 of 18 shots from the field, including four of his seven tries from three-point range. Kevin Young finished with 13 points.

Chris Lewis scored all 13 of his points in the first half for San Diego (9-20, 2-11), which lost its sixth straight game. Roberto Mafra had 12 points and tied the school record with six blocked shots.

The Lions trailed the entire second half until Young made a three-pointer for a 67-65 lead with 2:41 left.

UC Riverside 62, at Pacific 53: Kyle Austin scored 17 of his game-high 23 points in the second half to lead the Highlanders (12-15, 5-9 Big West) over the Tigers (17-10, 9-4), who shot 33% from the field.

Long Beach State 68, at UC Davis 65: T.J. Robinson scored 25 points and grabbed 12 rebounds to help the 49ers (14-14, 7-7 Big West) overcome a nine-point deficit. Joe Harden had a career-high 26 points for the Aggies (11-16, 6-7).

at St. Mary’s 76, Pepperdine 49: Omar Samhan had his 18th double-double of the season for the Gaels (23-5, 10-3 WCC) with 20 points and 10 rebounds. The Waves (7-22, 3-10) have lost 10 in a row.

UCLA 74, at Oregon State 53: Markel Walker had 19 points and seven rebounds and Jasmine Dixon added 17 points and five steals for the Bruins (19-7, 12-3 Pac-10). Talisa Rhea had 15 points for Oregon State (9-17, 1-14), which has lost 15 straight games.

USC 87, at Oregon 84: Ashley Corral scored 23 points and Briana Gilbreath had 20 points for the Trojans (15-11, 9-6 Pac-10), who held off the Ducks (16-11, 7-8) from the free-throw line in the final minutes.
