Pepperdine is no match for Miami
MEN
Miami 86, at Pepperdine 63: James Dews scored 21 points and made five three-pointers to lead the Hurricanes to their sixth consecutive victory. Miami (14-1) never trailed and used a double-digit scoring run in each half to pull away in its first visit to Pepperdine since December 1969. The Hurricanes led, 45-36, at halftime. Keion Bell scored 22 points for Pepperdine (4-12).
Loyola Marymount 81, at Cal State Bakersfield 73: Ashley Hamilton scored a career-best 19 points, LaRon Armstead added 18 and Vernon Teel had 17 for the Lions (9-7). Loyola has won six in a row, its longest streak since the 1995-96 season, and three straight on the road for the first time since winning its final road game in 1994-95 and the first two in 1995-96. Santwon Latunde led the Roadrunners (2-11) with 20 points and 21 rebounds.
WOMEN
UCLA 74, at No. 19 Arizona State 56: Markel Walker scored a career-high 24 points and Jasmine Dixon had career highs with 21 points and 11 rebounds to help the Bruins (9-4, 2-0 in the Pacific 10) beat the Sun Devils (8-5, 0-2) at Tempe, Ariz. UCLA scored the first seven points and led by 15 at halftime in winning its fourth straight. Arizona State has lost four of five.
USC 81, at Arizona 78 (OT): The Trojans (8-5, 2-0 in the Pac-10) led by 20 points in the first half, but the Wildcats (6-6, 0-2) rallied to force overtime with the help of a 17-0 second-half run. Heather Oliver made four three-pointers in the second half and overtime, and Ashley Corral made five in the first half for USC. Davellyn Whyte had 21 of Arizona’s first 25 points and finished with 34.
