E-Verify system: A Dec. 31 article in Section A on Lancaster’s decision to require businesses to verify the immigration and employment eligibility of employees said the federal government’s Internet-based E-Verify system would be used to verify the status of job seekers. E-Verify was designed to confirm the legal working status of someone who has already been hired, or who has been offered a job. It is not used to pre-screen potential workers.

Restaurant violation: An style=”color: rgb(0, 122, 170);”article in the Business section on Monday about the troubles facing Newcomb’s Ranch restaurant on Angeles Crest Highway said the Air Quality Management District had fined the business. The AQMD issued a violation notice for operating a diesel generator without a permit but has not assessed any penalties.

Forest fees: A Money Makeover profile of Bronwen Aker in Sunday’s Business section said Aker pays $350 a month to lease U.S. Forest Service property on which her family has a home. Aker pays $350 a year for a permit to use the land.

‘Breaking Bad’: An article in Monday’s Calendar section about the TV show “Breaking Bad” said star Bryan Cranston directed the third season premiere, the first time he had directed an episode of the drama. Cranston also directed the second season premiere of “Breaking Bad.”

Mose Allison: The review of the Mose Allison concert in Tuesday’s Calendar section identified Ruth Price as owner of the Jazz Bakery. Price is president and artistic director; the Jazz Bakery is a nonprofit organization.
