Horoscope: July 29

Mars enters Libra, reminding us that no man is an island, especially where work is concerned. Those who work and play well with others will succeed. Everything that happens at work is a direct result of the relationships you’ve built there. Furthermore, relationships you think have nothing to do with work will affect your work tremendously.

ARIES (March 21-April 19). After much hinting, nagging and cajoling, a superior finally gives you the nod to go forward. Take it and run all the way. This is your moment to show just how well suited to this job you are.

TAURUS (April 20-May 20). The more you think about someone the more you love that person. And the more you love that person the more you think about him or her. At this rate, you’re going to fall and fall deep.

GEMINI (May 21-June 21). There’s nothing to be defensive about. Everything that’s happening will benefit you. You may not readily see how this is true, but try to believe it anyway, and it will become apparent.

CANCER (June 22-July 22). You can be dramatic -- it’s for effect. After all, if you’re going to tell a good story, you have to know what to emphasize, where to stretch reality a bit and what to leave out, too. Your audience will be riveted.

LEO (July 23-Aug. 22). Frustration is caused by the belief that you need to do something in a particular timeframe in order to be acceptable. Maybe it’s not true. Maybe you have all the time in the world. From this perspective, frustration will fade away.

VIRGO (Aug. 23-Sept. 22). Commit to your responsibilities. Imagine that the fate of the world depends on a successful outcome. Concentrate your efforts. If you are not committed and concentrated, confusion will set in.

LIBRA (Sept. 23-Oct. 23). The music you hear in your head today is yours and yours alone. If you can whistle the melody you hear, then do it. But if you can’t, all the better, because now it’s a secret pleasure.

SCORPIO (Oct. 24-Nov. 21). Your work environment could be better, and your home life isn’t quite perfect, but you’re still, at heart, a happy person. You have the good sense to notice all the beauty and humor that’s around you.

SAGITTARIUS (Nov. 22-Dec. 21). Wading around in the backwater of your past is an escape, at best. You’ve been through there so many times that there’s nothing new to find. It’s time to head out to the high country.

CAPRICORN (Dec. 22-Jan. 19). Everything will go smoothly. Almost suspiciously so. You are so used to hiccups and half-starts that their absence has you somewhat dubious. It’s real -- this part of life is meant to be easy.

AQUARIUS (Jan. 20-Feb. 18). What a relief. A disharmonious scene ends happily, and you are sent back out to your normal life. Only this time you have a better sense of how precious it is.

PISCES (Feb. 19-March 20). Making money isn’t everything, but it seems like it is right now. That’s because your work life just shifted. Now is a good time to make a concerted effort to get a little financial security going.

TODAY’S BIRTHDAY (July 29). You find novel ways of contributing to your favorite people and causes; your offbeat generosity could even make the news. August brings a new development in your personal life and more people to your team. A professional calling could have you moving in 2011. An investment pays in February. Sagittarius and Scorpio people adore you. Your lucky numbers are: 40, 3, 22, 14 and 17.

ASTROLOGICAL QUESTIONS: “I’m contemplating a professional change. I have been at the same work for three years and am happy to have a stable job. But I also long for more adventure and the chance to stretch creatively. I’m so bored at work, and I want so much to drop the job and do something new. When is the right time to quit and start finding what I really want to do? Also, you should know that I have three children, ages 8, 6 and 4. I’m a Cancer.”

Do you have savings enough to last you for two years without working? Or is there someone else who supports you? You were born under the sign of mothers, and you will ultimately be happiest when you are doing the right thing for the well-being of your children. You can fill your need for adventure in other ways without quitting your job. Take a class, or join a club. Sometimes you get in whimsical moods and feel that life must change immediately. But these moods will pass. Always take into account that you made the decision to be a mother and your first responsibility is to your children.

CELEBRITY PROFILES: She grew up in a small Kansas town with a population of 200 and rode to superstardom on her huge vocal talent. Country music star Martina McBride is a Leo, with Venus, Mars and Jupiter in soulful Cancer. Leos love the spotlight, but McBride’s chart reveals her time, attention and ties to family are sacred. She says, “I can’t be the big star in the family. We have a family, and we are all equal.”
