GALAXY TODAY

AT SEATTLE

When: 1 p.m.

Where: Qwest Field.

On the air: TV: Fox Sports West, Telefutura. Radio: 1150, 1330.

Records: Galaxy 6-0-1, Seattle 2-2-3.

Season record (2009): Galaxy 0-1-1.

Update: The Galaxy has never beaten the upstart Sounders, who made the playoffs in their MLS debut last season. But the Galaxy is coming off its first victory over the Colorado Rapids at Colorado’s 3-year-old stadium, so perhaps that will serve as an omen. Forward Alan Gordon had the only goal in that one, the first Galaxy score this season that didn’t involve Edson Buddle. With 11 goals in seven games, the Galaxy leads the league in scoring, but it is also the MLS’ best defensive team with goalkeeper Donovan Ricketts having given up only two goals. The Sounders average more than 36,000 fans a match at Qwest Field, more than 10,000 better than the Seattle Mariners are doing next door at Safeco Field.
