BOOKS

Laura Bush With her disarmingly placid exterior and beguiling cheerfulness, Laura Bush was a mystery of a first lady. Now she opens up (kind of) in “Spoken From the Heart,” in which an account of an auto accident she caused that claimed the life of her friend punctuates an affecting portrait of a solitary, bookish only childhood in Midland, Texas; career as an educator and librarian; and her enduring, opposites-attract marriage to George W. Signing only. Vroman’s Bookstore, 695 E. Colorado Blvd., Pasadena. 1 p.m. Free with purchase of “Heart.” (626) 449-5320. https://www.vromansbookstore.com. Also appearing at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library, 40 Presidential Drive, Simi Valley. 10 a.m. Wednesday. $55. Sold out. (800) 410-8354.

POP MUSIC

Kate Nash The beguiling Brit chanteuse dips into Motown and girl group influences for her sophomore long-player, “My Best Friend Is You,” which includes the British radio hit single “Do Wah Doo.” Her North American tour, supported by New York indie pop band SuperCute!, is likely to gain Nash a host of new admirers. El Rey Theatre, 5515 Wilshire Blvd. 7 p.m. $20. Sold out. (323) 936-6400. https://www.theelrey.com.

Life of Bob Marley Roger Steffens owns the largest archive of Marley ephemera in the world, the Reggae Archives, and he’s dipped into it to compile this multimedia presentation about the singer’s life and influence on generations of musicians and cultures. The screening will include rare and unreleased footage of Marley. Grammy Museum, L.A. Live. 7 p.m. $10. https://www.grammymuseum.org.

ART

Red Book Dialogues This series of public conversations pairs Jungian analysts with artists and thinkers to explore and respond to “The Red Book,” Carl Jung’s long-unseen illuminated manuscript, on display now at the Hammer. Tuesday’s installment features video artist Bill Viola and Beverley Zabriskie, a founding member of the Jungian Psychoanalytic Assn. Hammer Museum, 10899 Wilshire Blvd., L.A. 7 p.m. Free. (310) 443-7000. https://hammer.ucla.edu.
