DUCKS TONIGHT

AT NASHVILLE

When: 5 PDT.

Where: Bridgestone Arena.

On the air: TV: KDOC. Radio: 830.

Records: Ducks 0-1-0; Predators 0-0-0.

Record vs. Predators (2009-10): 2-2-0.

Update: The Predators, who finished seventh in the Western Conference in 2009-10, open the season with this game and can only hope the trend of winning on home ice against the Ducks continues. For the Ducks, most eyes will continue to be on 18-year-old Cam Fowler, the heir apparent to future Hall of Famer Scott Niedermayer, who retired at the end of last season. The Ducks’ defense will have to come up big, while the team’s powerhouse offense is intact with new captain Ryan Getzlaf, Bobby Ryan, Corey Perry, Saku Koivu and Teemu Selanne. Except for the record-breaking 12-0-4 and 27-4-6 start in the Stanley Cup-winning 2006-07 season, bad starts have become the norm under Coach Randy Carlyle –– so the Ducks will be out to break that pattern. The Predators, meanwhile, also named a new captain: 24-year-old defenseman Shea Weber (16 goals, 43 points), who is expected to do even more this season.
