Laguna Beach, home of the Sawdust Art Festival, will soon be home to Sawdust Studio Art Classes, in which visitors will have an opportunity to create art or craft pieces -- such as jewelry, pottery, ceramics or tiles -- during two-hour weekend sessions.

Starting Oct. 15, classes will take place Fridays and Saturdays at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. and will be taught by Sawdust Festival art instructors. The workshops are being sponsored by the festival in cooperation with the Laguna Beach Visitors & Conference Bureau.

“This collaboration gives us the ability to provide a year-round art experience for visitors,” said Judith A. Bijlani, executive director of the bureau.

During the class, students can choose to make items such as pendants, bracelets, wind chimes, clay bowls, teapots or tiles. Private lessons or custom group classes are also available.

Regular classes cost $95 per person and can be booked at the festival website or by calling (949) 494-3030. They will be taught on the grounds of the festival, 935 Laguna Canyon Rd.

The Sawdust Art Festival is a nonprofit organization that promotes art created in Laguna Beach.
