The Redbury: Hot digs make Hollywood debut

Special to the Los Angeles Times

Another hot hotel has opened at Hollywood’s iconic intersection. Called the Redbury @ Hollywood and Vine, the boutique hotel from Los Angeles-based SBE offers something rare in urban Los Angeles: 57 suite-sized rooms decorated in vivid, vintage style and designed for extended stays.

Star photographer and video director Matthew Rolston chose the decor, which includes Oriental rugs, vintage tableware, Victorian curiosities and the latest electronics.

Rooms begin at 750 square feet and include kitchenettes, washer-dryer units, roomy balconies and ample closet and storage space. An ongoing promotion is reducing the regular room rates, which now begin at $209.

The five-story building sits in the shadow of Capitol Records, the Pantages Theatre and the hotel’s nearest competitor, the W Hollywood.

The Redbury recently added 24-hour in-room dining from the hotel’s restaurant, Cleo, and its corporate cousin down the block, SBE’s Katsuya.

The element that’s getting rave reviews? In-room turntables and a stack of vinyl ready for a spin.
