Week ahead for Dodgers

TUESDAY THROUGH THURSDAY: AT SAN FRANCISCO GIANTS

FRIDAY THROUGH SUNDAY: COLORADO ROCKIES

The last time Joe Torre wasn’t in the playoffs, the PlayStation was new, “E.R.” was the most popular show on TV, and Derek Jeter had played 15 games in the major leagues. It’s been a great run, but it will end this month — probably this week — when the Dodgers officially are eliminated from the wild-card race. The only question now is, what will Torre do when it’s over? The last time he wasn’t in the playoffs, he changed teams — going from St. Louis to the New York Yankees — and we all know how that worked out. He could be moving again this winter since his contract expires when the season does.
