Graphation Film Festival In recent years, comic books and graphic novels have proved fertile ground for Hollywood movie adaptations. This new short film festival, incubated at the nearby Hive gallery, reverses the trend — it adapts movies into comics and animation. Opening night features shorts, talks and live music. ART

Photo L.A. The longest-running art fair in Los Angeles, Photo L.A. is also the largest photography-based art fair in the country, drawing more than 10,000. The show is now combined with artLA projects, an ongoing citywide program of exhibitions, seminars and installations across all media, and the resulting art fair features four days of programming, including panels with local artists and writers Christina Caputo, Stacy Allen and Alex Klein, as well as an opening reception with William Eggleston and Stephen Shore. Lissie Ojai-based Lissie Maurus hit a home run with her debut full-length album of well-crafted Americana, “Catching a Tiger,” rocketing her into award-winning and headlining status. Los Angeles World Guitar Show Guitars, amps, banjos, mandolins, memorabilia, sound gear and more will be on display and for sale. Pinot Days. More than 90 producers from the country’s most prominent pinot regions will pour tastes of nearly 300 pinots while local restaurants serve up fine food that pairs well with the alcoholic offerings.
