DMV computers back online after ‘connectivity’ issues resolved

Problems that affected computers at California Department of Motor Vehicles offices around the state early Tuesday have been resolved, officials said.

DMV spokeswoman Jessica Gonzalez said the issues, which had triggered delays for customers statewide as clerks processed paperwork by hand, were fixed about noon. “We’re back up,” she said.

“We are experiencing communications issues with AT&T; & Verizon that have impacted DMV services,” the state DMV said on its official Twitter account. “OTECH & DMV are working to resolve the issues.”

The cause was attributed to network or router problems that impacted connectivity, Gonzales said.

Many lines were beginning to reform outside the Hawthorne office after motorists began getting word that the computers were back up.

“We’ll probably be a little busy in the field offices for awhile, but we’re back up,” said DMV spokeswoman Jan Mendoza.
