Apple confirms WWDC keynote address for June 11
Apple has confirmed the keynote speech for its 2012 Worldwide Developers Conference will take place on June 11 at 10 a.m. PDT.
The San Francisco conference is intended to provide developers that work with company’s platforms with direction regarding Apple’s future plans, but the keynote speech is typically used as one stage to introduce its next big product.
The Cupertino-based company confirmed the event’s time by updating its developers website with an official image of the conference as well as a schedule.
Last year, Apple used the keynote to introduce consumers to iCloud, the tech giant’s second stab at cloud computing, while in 2010 it used the event to introduce the iPhone 4.
This year, the company is rumored to be ready to introduce a revamped line of MacBook Pros that could include the Retina Display used in the latest versions of the iPhone and iPad. The next iPhone could be introduced as well, but most reports indicate that is unlikely.
The company also unveiled an official app for the event that provides the conference’s schedule, news, a map of the venue and a folder for pictures. However, its contents are limited to WWDC attendees, who each have to pay $1,599 to attend, according to PCMag.
