Ex-Clippers wing Corey Maggette lists Newport Coast home for sale

Corey Maggette, the professional basketball player who played eight seasons for the Clippers, has listed his home in Newport Coast for sale at just shy of $4 million.

The Mediterranean-style home, built in 2001, is situated on more than 13,000 square feet in Pelican Heights with views of the surrounding canyons. Recently updated, the two-story floor plan sports hardwood flooring, custom built-ins and a range of designer finishes.

A chef’s kitchen, formal dining room, living room, media room, five bedrooms and five full bathrooms are found within the 4,800 square feet of living space. The master suite has a private sitting room and fireplace.

Outdoors, the grounds contain an expansive lawn and a patio with a barbecue and fireplace.

The guard-forward, 34, earned nearly $90 million in 14 seasons with the Magic, Clippers, Warriors, Bucks, Bobcats and Pistons. He did not play last season after failing to latch on with the Spurs during training camp.

Maggette paid $3 million for the home in August 2011, according to public records. The property is in close proximity to Kobe Bryant’s Newport Coast home, which currently lists for sale at slightly under $8 million.
