Screenwriter John Lafia lists his Midcentury home in La Cañada Flintridge

Writer-director John Lafia, best known for the “Child’s Play” horror films, and his wife, illustrator and costume designer Beverly Hong, have put their home in La Cañada Flintridge on the market.

Designed by Keith Marston, the son of Pasadena architect Sylvanus Marston, the 1950s Midcentury Modern-style home has walls of windows and glass doors, beamed ceilings and a brick divider/fireplace that splits the common areas.

Four bedrooms, three bathrooms, a library/den and an eat-in kitchen are within the 3,279 square feet of open-plan space. Separate patios sit off either side of the living and dining room areas.

Outdoors, grounds of about an acre are filled with gardens, fountains and a swimming pool. A post-and-beam pool house, with a bathroom and outdoor shower, compliments the main house.

Views take in the surrounding San Gabriel Mountains.

Lafia, in his late 50s, co-wrote the screenplay for the 1988 film “Child’s Play” and directed the 1990 sequel “Child’s Play 2.” Among his television credits is the disaster miniseries “10.5” and “10.5: Apocalypse.”

Hong has had her illustrations appear in such publications as The Times, Business Week and Nintendo.

They bought the house in 1999 for about $740,000, records show.
