Actor Peter Gallagher of “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit” has reduced the price on his gated estate in Brentwood to $5.795 million. He listed the house a month ago at $5.995 million.

Old-growth sycamores and mature palms shelter the Midcentury Modern house set on more than half an acre. The professionally landscaped grounds contain gardens, multiple dining and entertaining areas and a saltwater swimming pool. Tucked against one wall of the property is a playhouse.

Skylights, clerestory windows and glass blocks bring natural light into the 5,225 square feet of living space, which is configured in an open-plan layout. Hardwood floors run throughout the house. The master suite has dual walk-in closets and two sets of French doors that open to either the pool or gardens and hiking trails.

A second-floor guest wing features a high-ceiling family room and kitchen, a treetop-level balcony, two bedrooms and a bathroom. There are a total of six bedrooms, five bathrooms and two fireplaces.

Gallagher, 60, is known for his work on “Covert Affairs” (2010-14) and “The O.C.” (2003-07). He is also on the current series “Togetherness.” The blue-eyed actor starred in the films “Someday This Pain Will Be Useful to You” (2010), “The Man Who Knew Too Little” (1997) and “While You Were Sleeping” (1995).

The house, built in 1948, last sold in 2007 for $3 million.
