NFL free agent Robert Griffin III looks to pass on his D.C.-area home
Robert Griffin III is throwing his home onto the market once more.
The veteran NFL quarterback bought the 8,561-square-foot farmhouse in Leesburg, Va., in 2013 following his eye-opening rookie year with the Washington Redskins. But after battling injury in recent years, he’s moved on from the elegant estate.
Records show he listed the home last April, but found no takers. Framing the sale as an investment opportunity — since the property has a tenant signed until 2022 — the former Heisman Trophy winner has put the house on the market for slightly under $2.7 million.
The four-bedroom home is set on three acres in Creighton Farms. Interior spaces include a formal living and dining room, while the spacious kitchen holds a large center island under two chandeliers.
The lower level, which is served by an elevator, features a theater room and a wet bar, as well as a stone wine cellar.
Outside, landscaping surrounds a custom pool and spa. A fenced lawn and pool house also lie within the grounds.
William Davis of Century 21 New Millennium holds the listing. The exact list price is $2,699,990.
Drafted second overall by the Washington Redskins in 2012, Griffin, 27, went on to be named NFL offensive rookie of the year but has been plagued by injuries since. He’s currently a free agent.
